Jin Shin works with the spiritual root of an imbalance by releasing muscular tension and harmonizing the body’s life force to aid healing. The Jin Shin style holds two or more acupressure points using both hands to apply light to deep pressure. Jin Shin Acupressure can be used with other forms, or by itself, to balance the energy flow. Translated as the Art of the Compassionate Spirit, the Taoists throughout Asia, including the Shinto Temples in Japan.

Jin Shin balances the body’s energy by applying pressure to specific acupressure points, the same points used in Acupuncture, to release tension and increase circulation. The Jin Shin method of holding acupressure points can relieve pain and common ailments, prevent health disorders, and restore the body’s vital life force.

Jin Shin Acupressure, an ancient healing art was developed in Asia over 5,000 years ago. Using the power and sensitivity of the hand, acupressure is effective in the relief of stress related ailments, self-treatment and preventive health care. Acupressure releases tension, increases circulation, reduces pain, and develops vibrant health. Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body’s energies, which promotes optimal health and well-being, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. Jin Shin Jyutsu is the knowing of the three main vital energy pathways, known as “The Trinity”, which descend and ascend within the body. These pathways harmonize and balance the mind, body, and spirit, connecting through twenty-six key energy point known as “safety energy locks” that feed life into our bodies.. These key points are called Safety Energy Factors. They unlock and release stagnated or blocked energy and tension allowing the energy to flow freely in its natural harmonious pattern. When one or more of the paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit.

Jin Shin Jyutsu physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the life energy in the body. Born of innate wisdom and passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth, the Art had fallen into relative obscurity when it was dramatically revived in the early 1900′s by Master Jiro Murai in Japan.

After clearing himself of a life-threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). The resulting knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then given to Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950′s.
